Starting in the lowland farms and foothills of Annapurna, the route climbs up toward undulating meadows and crosses the famous Thorung La pass, one of the highest passes in the world, at 5416 meters. Over the course of the trek, the geography and topography change drastically, as does the fauna: in the Annapurna region you can expect to find jackal blue sheep, Danfe (pheasant), and, if luck should have it, the elusive Himalayan snow leopard. Every day the scenery is different, making for a supremely diverse experience on the roof of the world.
