Are you an aspiring entrepreneur? Hope to manage a company one day? This business internship is for you!
Our partnering Nepali companies are an excellent platform to understand the global impact of business and entrepreneurship. You will have the opportunity to learn the complexity of the business world while making a real-time impact on the local and global community. You will also be able to learn how to overcome cultural barriers and develop international relationships in business dealings and networking.
Gap Year Nepal business interns will benefit from a network of highly qualified specialists and personnel in a multitude of fields, offering comprehensive services related to foreign investments. These include advisory services on entry strategies, exchange control, foreign investment policies, assistance in investment approvals, tax and commercial implications of joint venture, and technology transfer agreements. Interns may also gain experience in financial policy formation and accounting work, including audits, data collection, record keeping, capacity building, training, and report writing.
We will be picking you up from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and driving you to your hotel, where you will stay for two nights. After two nights, you will be transported to live either with a host family or in a volunteer house. During the first few days, you will be participating in several orientation programs and tours to familiarize yourself with Nepali culture and adapting to a new work environment. In the next few days, you will be shown to your chosen company headquarters, where you will be oriented with your colleagues and mentors.
This week, businesses will assist students with professional development. Students will begin learning how to use the software that their respective business uses on a day-to-day basis, such as advanced techniques in Microsoft Excel or Tableau. Students will explore potential that they could work on for the next two weeks through thorough discussions with their mentors. This project will be presented to the company at the end of the internship. At the end of this week, students will submit their project proposal.
Students will work on their projects with their assigned teams, with regular check-ins with their mentors to keep them on track. Near the end of Week 4, students will present their projects to the company alongside their teams. The company will subsequently give evaluations of the presentations to the students, allowing the students to grow professionally. At the very end of Week 4, students will get time to explore Kathmandu with their newfound friends. Finally, students will be picked up from their hotel and be driven to Tribhuvan International Airport for departure.
