Program Overview

Are you an aspiring entrepreneur? Hope to manage a company one day? This business internship is for you!

Our partnering Nepalese companies are an excellent platform to understand the global impact of business and entrepreneurship. You will have the opportunity to learn the complexity of the business world while making a real-time impact on the local and global community.

Gap Year Nepal business interns will benefit from a network of highly qualified specialists and personnel in a multitude of fields, offering comprehensive services related to foreign investments. This includes advisory services on entry strategies, exchange control, foreign investment policies, assistance in investment approvals, tax and commercial implications of joint venture, and technology transfer agreements. Interns may also help in financial policy formation and accounting work, including audits, data collection, record keeping, capacity building, training, and report writing.

Program Itinerary

Week 1

You will be picked up by our representative and driven to the hotel from the sole international airport in Kathmandu. The first week will be spent adjusting to the new culture as well as adapting to the new work environment.

  • Arrival and transport to the hotel
  • Orientation: Culture, History and Nepali language class
  • Walking tour in the heart of the city
  • Get to know your team
  • Familiarize with public transit with one of our program coordinators

Week 2

This week, students will begin learning from Nepal business leaders about what inspired their business, struggles they overcame, and any advice they have for aspiring entrepreneurs. Students will be encouraged to draft their own startup idea, either by themselves or in a small group. As they begin to plan their business, they will work alongside established businesses to gain advice and learn the trade.

Week 3

Interns will continue to learn from the businesses in Nepal. They may take on administrative tasks, work on marketing, brainstorm new products, or work on loan and grant writing. Students will learn how to build and manage a team by working with the HR department and spearhead creative marketing strategies such as through trending social media outlets.

Week 4

In the final week, interns will wrap up their work at the local businesses. Students will present their business plans for feedback. Business leaders will be present for short lectures and coachings, along with group or individual feedback for the students’ presentations. You are now ready to take on the world!
